About Sopyonje
Early in 1960s, a man in his thirties arrives at a pub in a mountain village. He looks back in the past as he hears a woman's Pansori. In his childhood, Yu-Bong, a Pansori singer comes to his village. He falls in love with a village woman Dong-Ho's mother and they leave the town. While they live with Yu-Bong's daughter Song-Hwa , Dong-Ho's mother dies when she gives birth to a baby. Yu-Bong teaches Song-Hwa Pansori and drumming method to Dong-Ho. Then Dong-Ho fights with Yu-Bong and leaves as their living becomes harder due to Korean War. Since Song-Hwa refuses to sing Pansori after Dong-Ho leaves them, Yu-Bong ends up making Song-Hwa blind because he adheres to completing Pansori.
