Introduction:
It's 1979. Masaya is living in Kokura, in Fukuoka Prefecture with his mother, grandmother, and father, Choji, who comes home drunk, and kicking the door open. Because of her husband's habitual drinking, Eiko leaves home with Masaya to live with her mother, Haru, in Chikuho, Fukuoka.

Based on the autobiographical book by Lily Franky. The novel is about Franky's family and the time he spent with his mother.

Tokyo Tower focuses on the relationship between a woman who is in fragile health and her grown son who is trying to make a living as an artist in 1970s Tokyo. As growing up in the country side, the very close mother and son always wanted to come to Tokyo and spent a day on top of the Tokyo Tower. As the mother's health is declining, the small wish seems to be harder to achieve.
