The book is like a treasure chest of Korean traditional patterns in embroidery. It even includes old Asian patterns that can't be found in China. These patterns were used everywhere in Koreans' daily life, in articles such as costumes, wrapping clothes, quilt covers and so on.Anyone with an interest in interior decoration or design will be greatly helped by the diverse patterns that the book contains. The colors used in the embroideries are very vivid and strong, since they originally came from plants. The nation's first Culture Minister, Lee O-ryong, said about the book: "Every country in the world has its own embroidery. But the case of Korea was perhaps special, because the Won Kingdom of China requested a Korean king to sacrifice woman embroiderers as gifts."
