Starring: Fan Bing Bing, Vic Zhou Yu Ming, Alex Fong, Huang Qiu Shen, Anthony Wong, Fan Wen Fang
Introduction:
Based on Kenneth Pai Hsien Yung's novel, the 2009 all-star CCTV drama The Last Night of Madame Chin (a.k.a. Jin Da Ban) follows the tumultuous life and times of Shanghai's top dance hostess during the glitter, glitz, and upheaval from the 1940s to the 1960s. Fan Bingbing, who also produced the ambitious series, is beautiful and riveting as eponymous heroine Madame Chin, who begins her life at the famous and notorious Paramount dance hall at the young age of 18. Coming of age amid showtime glamor and backstage drama, young Chin Zhaoli dances around different men to the top of Shanghai nightlife, but her heart belongs to only one.
Fan Bingbing's star-crossed lover is played by none other than F4 heartthrob Vic Chou, appearing in his first Mainland Chinese drama and period production. The other men of Madame Chin's life include Hong Kong stars Alex Fong Chung Sung, Anthony Wong, and Paul Chun and Taiwan actor Eric Huang. Singapore's top actress Fann Wong also co-stars in The Last Night of Madame Chin, playing against type as a flashy, self-centered dance hostess.
