Shinohara Ryouko plays Noda Naoko, a 32-year old woman who works for a large company in Tokyo coming up in 10 years, most of the females who work there are what is called OL's (office ladies) which means they are only working in a company for limited time before they get married, whereas Naoko is an actual company employee. Naoko is known for looking out for the younger ladies at the office and giving them sage advice on their professional and romantic lives. She is always there to help when someone is in need, and is frequently approached by people with problems every day.
In reality, Naoko is desperate to get married herself as well, and is feeling that she is becoming too old to meet Mr. Right anymore. She finds it ironic that she is always offering romantic advice, but can't start a good relationship herself. Her mother is recommending that she tries an "omiai" (an arranged meeting with a potential marriage partner) which of course, her romantically-inclined mind is reluctant to do.
