About Evergreen Tree, The
A young female (Young-Shin) and male (Dong-Hyeok), who participated in the student enlightenment movement sponsored by a daily newspapers company, love each other as a good partner, and promise to take the lead of the farm village movement. He leaves school in mid-course to return to his home town and make effort to make the peasants have hope, but fails owing to the landowner's disturbance. She also borrows a church building to teach kids but faces the police's severe objection so that she makes up mind to set up a school. While speaking opening address at the ceremony commemorating the school's construction completion, she become faint. At that time, he is betrayed by his fellows to be deprived of operation rights by the landowner. He becomes very much angry to burn the peasants' association building and kill the landowner. He is arrested by the police to become as good as a living dead owing to severe torture and be released temporarily. She finally dies.
