About Tinker's Wife, A
At the end of Pacific War, the Japanese take the grand bell of 1,300 years old to use it for the war. The very day, Jong-Du's father comes to strike the bell to send his mother's soul to the heaven, but is killed by the Japanese army. Because of Jong-Du's excessive behavior in order to resolve grandmother and father's regret, he is driven out of the temple. By that time, a fine artist Suk-Hee, who's been here to take rest, is attracted to him for his earnestness. Thus, she deserts her rich betrothed and begins to live with him. In order to live as a tinker' wife, Suk-Hee gets around to gather the copper to make the grand bell. A rich president volunteers to financially support them. When the grand bell is completed, Jong-Du throws himself into the fire and Suk-Hee becomes a monk.
