About Soil
Hoe Sung, a lawyer, is married with a daughter of his benefactor and comes to his hometown. In the country he concentrates on the enlightenment activities for ignorant peasants. His wife opposes it and finally she has a liaison with a friend of her husband. When he hears of this news, he comes to Seoul, but many temptations of women are waiting for him there. But he comes back to hometown again. His wife regrets for her faults and attempts to kill herself, but in vain. His crippled wife apologizes to him and decides to devote herself to the rural community with her husband.
