After the Japanese annexation of Korea, the little King Youngchin is held kind of a hostage in Japan, his studying used as an excuse. He has grown up and marry Bang-Ja, a member of Japanese royal family but the king couldn't soothe his longing for his coming back to Korea. When Korea became independent he wished to come to Korea but he couldn't because of some political consideration. Then he has a stroke. After military regime took over the government on May 16, 1960, he finally returns to Korea with his Japanese wife.
